Staggered Choices

Why do we find joy in one another?

Hear a voice, sound an opinion, take a sip:

                                               tomorrow is a dream horizon.

I am forced to think about a falling

I am forced to think about a
falling
drop
of rain,
a raindrop
falling
until and when

Too many of us believe
in purpose without
defining
intent: try
naming every
wave that rolls
onto the beach: try
to believe you know,
anything.

Assertions and Credences:
this is my new,
defunct band;
each member
is a plinth
as every
member before
and every one
thereafter,
bearing an altar
richly piled
with mushrooms and snails.

Caw, caw!

Bottoms Down

I had a glass of white wine with my dinner--
I'm wearing only one boot--
My thoughts stray to a juicier, rounder truth.

From the Window

Broken light searing
             Eyes, blinding into green ghosts:

Memories of day.

Another Window

Venus in the late dusk sky,
               a beacon of night,
                  between early summer clouds.

Glass door

go out to the deck and look up at the stars and
watch the clouds fly by,
and listen to the tails trees sing.

U.S. 17

        The fill of hatred
Breaming for the slow descent:
         The shallow...waking

U.S. 17

So disposed to living in the lie's
marrow, there is no demure:
the destroyer rears its head again.

From the Window

          Sore moon smokey night,
     Still-air heat dissipating,
          Sweating away light.
