Inertia and momentum

What moves the now forward?  Are we drawn, somehow propelled along by will, by presence, by circumstances?  Take for instance: an entirely homemade Caesar Salad, from dressing to croutons, substittuting a 1/2 oz. of freshly cut and expressed, soft-rind refridgerator ripened lime juice instead of lemon juice; I have lemons as well, but why choose to vary the original recipe?  Certainly, I could go on and on, but the example is intended to draw attention to a common (at least for me) experience.  Why should I even think about it?  I could open a can or two, or a box, or a combo of these within a moderate range of storage temperatures, apply heat in the specified fashion, serve and eat with whatever beverage; so why would I grate a cup of pecorino romano, finely mince five anchovy fillets, eight twists from the pepper mill, a medium egg steeped in boiled water for thirty seconds, and beaten along with about a half cup of gently introduced, refined olive oil...?  (As I said, on and on.)  Why give such consideration to a meal?
Certainly much of my involvement in this consideration has to do with the range of my experiences with food during the intial n number of mostly informative years in this area of consideration...  And this is only one facet of the whole of this experience.  Am I deliberately carrying this out to only sate hunger?  Am I compelled by the rewards of awareness?  Or, do these choices spring from the self-imposed options valued by an appreciable percentage, thus made available by the scales of demand?  Perhaps these and other factors impact the decisions as they rear up.  On we go: choosing or submitting to options from upbringing, from availablability, and/or the worth in time of relishing the experience...  In this case, the aroma and flavors fondly remembered with mouth-watering anticipation.  I believe that my rendering this sort of consideration and actions is an expression of Praise to God for the bounty of His gifts.
